We investigate the properties of phospholipid bilayers incorporating oil droplets. In this study, we investigated the incorporation of triacylglycerol (TAG) droplets and cholesteryl ester (CE) droplets in the bilayers of giant unilamellar vesicles that phase-separated into liquid-ordered and liquid-disordered (Ld) phases. We show that TAG droplets are preferentially partitioned in Ld phase domains whereas the incorporation of CE droplets prevents the bilayer phase separation.
