We suggest a novel laser display configuration that employs an organic droplet laser. This droplet laser consists of an ionic liquid loaded with an organic dye, which can be fabricated by inkjet printing. By applying an electric field, we could switch laser oscillation from the droplet due to deformation of the droplets into ellipsoidal shapes. A 2 × 3 array of droplet lasers was successfully fabricated and individually switched by the electric field. Furthermore, RGB droplet lasers were integrated into the array, demonstrating the potential for laser display.
