Oxide glass

Aiming at applications to opto-electronic integrated devices, we have prepared n-type oxide bulk glasses composed only of non-toxic elements. The fluorine-doped Fe3O4–Bi2O3–B2O3 glass exhibited a room-temperature conductivity of ~10-2 S/cm, while the WO3–P2O5 glass prepared under a hydrogen-reducing atmosphere showed a much higher value of ~10 S/cm. Both glasses exhibited n-type conductivity.
