A Pt thin film with added oxygen was fabricated to investigate how the spin Hall effect changes due to an oxygen concentration gradient. In the uniform single-layer film, the y-component of the spin Hall effect is dominant. However, in the PtOx (Gradient) structure composed of five layers of PtOx with varying oxygen concentrations (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20%; 2 nm × 5 layers = 10 nm), contributions from spin currents with spin polarization components in directions different from the y-axis were observed.
