Carbon electrodes decorated with metal nanoparticles can be applied to electrochemical sensors and fuel cells due to their high catalytic activity and large surface area. In this study, aiming at application to electrochemical device electrodes, we fabricated carbon electrodes decorated with gold nanoparticles on hydrogel by dropwise addition of gold chloride solution onto the carbon structures fabricated via laser-induced graphitization. The fabricated electrodes exhibited increased electrical conductivity and the attachment of gold nanoparticles to the surface of the carbon structure.
