In this study, we investigated the chiral recognition mechanism at the molecular scale by identifying the detailed molecular orientation within the surface periodic structure of a helical helicene derivatives. We investigated the adsorption structure of diphenylhelicene molecules on an Ag(111) substrate by using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and tip-enhanced raman spectroscopy (TERS). Furthermore, by comparing the experimentally obtained TERS spectra with theoretically calculated Raman spectra based on DFT calculations, we successfully determined the detailed adsorption structure, including the molecular orientation and the orientation of the functional groups.
