In RE123 superconductors, Ca doping at the RE site causes a reduction in critical temperature (Tc). Nevertheless, carrier doping via Ca can enhance critical current properties in the intermediate to low temperature range and across grain boundaries. These effects are particularly beneficial for practical bulk applications in the 20 – 60 K range, where improved trapped field properties are expected. In this study, we evaluated the trapped field properties and grain boundary transport properties of Ca-doped Y123 melt-textured bulks grown by the Single-Direction Melt Growth (SDMG) method. In addition, the effect of non-stoichiometric oxygen content control on these superconducting properties is also reported.
