We conducted a study to improve the stability of sub-cycle mid-infrared pulses generated via filamentation. To suppress plasma recombination within the filament—which is a key factor that degrades stability—a static electric field was applied above the filament. As a result, the intensity and pointing stability of the pulses was significantly improved. Furthermore, the stability of the power spectrum of the sub-cycle pulse was measured with an upconversion technique.
