We have developed submicron-thick self-folding electrodes for attachment to fine nerve fibers and demonstrated their applicability to peripheral nerve stimulation in experimental animals. Although multiple points of electrodes are desirable for selective stimulation of multiple axons mixed in nerve fibers, it is difficult to divide electrodes and wiring into multiple points in the previous method because the electrodes themselves are structured for induction of stress. In this study, we established a self-folding technique using a thin film consisting only of parylene, an insulating layer.
