In nuclear fusion research and industrial applications utilizing high-energy lasers, damage to optics presents a significant challenge. Ultraviolet light, in particular, is prone to damage, necessitating frequent replacement. To address this, we're developing optics that use neutral gases as a medium, which are less susceptible to damage than solid materials. A 10kJ laser can be controlled with a 3cm square neutral gas medium. Our current work focuses on developing a uniform gas flow path with an open aperture. To suppress the effects of turbulence, we're exploring optimal conditions by controlling gas density using a three-layer flow path of oxygen, ozone, and oxygen.
