Silicon Photonics, introduced 40 years ago, has become essential for high-speed, low-cost transceivers, enabling commercial modules with bandwidths of 800 Gbits/s to 1.6 Tbits/s. While primarily driven by data communications, its applications extend to AI clusters, automotive (e.g., LiDAR), healthcare, and quantum communications. To support diverse needs, tailored platforms like PIC50 (for R&D) and PIC100 (for manufacturing) have been developed, offering low-loss waveguides, efficient coupling, and high-performance modulators. PIC100 integrates advanced components like a high-speed Germanium photodetector and efficient phase modulators, ideal for 200 Gbps/lane applications. PIC50 supports LiDAR with low-power Optical Phasesd Arrays and optimized antennas for enhanced far-field performance. Additionally, compatibility with III-V materials enables hybrid devices like an entangled photon source for quantum communication.
