Partial formation of J-aggregates are often observed for the oriented growth of linear dye molecular films on an aligned polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) layer and further formation of the aggregates could be another promissing way to utilize the excellent non linear optical properties of J-aggregates. We have found that various defects in the PTFE layer induce J-aggregates formation in spite of decreasing the orientational degrees S.
