Recently, optical computing technology, which directly utilizes the natural properties of light as a computational resource, has attracted considerable attention. We present a prototype optical computing (optical encoder) device fabricated by silicon photonics technology and its application to encryption systems. In our experiments, 64-bit digital signals were encrypted using the prototype device and successfully decrypted using a deep neural network (DNN)-based decoder. The system achieved a decoding success rate exceeding 94%.
