Our research topic is a new type of optical chiral response (more precisely, a chiral-like response) arising from non-Hermiticity in optical systems. Unlike conventional chirality originating from three-dimensional structures, this non-Hermitian chirality manifests inherently in two-dimensional systems and is characterized by its tunability through the imaginary part of the refractive index (i.e., optical loss). In this talk, we present our research on nanophotonic structures exhibiting this non-Hermitian chirality.
