BaTiO3 attracts great attention as a promising electro-optic (EO)material due to its excellent EO coefficient. Therefore, optical modulation with BaTiO3 is thought to be able to reduce energy consumption. However, because reported EO coefficient of BaTiO3 is a1/a2 domain structure, EO coefficient isn't utilized completely. In this research, by fabricating c-axis oriented BaTiO3 films I measured higher EO coefficient than a previous study. In addition, a previous study reported that calculation based on the Landau Devonshire theory indicated proper strain improved EO response. Therefore, I evaluated BaTiO3's EO coefficient on other substrates.
