The photon has a polarization direction perpendicular to the light direction. The first photon absorption is found to have a few light direction dependencies. On the second photon absorption stage, however, the conduction wave functions are largely deformed by the occupied O vacancies. The choice of light direction changes the polarization direction, leading to large effects on the transition probability from the O defect level to the conduction bands.
