We investigated the upper resistivity limit required for the conductive intermediate layer in a REBCO wire consisting of a {100}<001> textured Cu tape, a conductive buffer, and a REBCO layers. The thickness of the Cu tape, the buffer, and a REBCO layers were set to 30, 1, and 3 μm, respectively. Assuming that a normal conducting region emerges across the entire width of the REBCO layer, we calculated the current distribution by varying the resistivity of the conductive buffer layer, and subsequently calculated the time evolution of the temperature distribution within the wire.
