Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive treatment, but its application to deep tissues is limited due to poor light penetration. Recently, X-ray-induced PDT (XPDT) has gained attention. Phosphors for XPDT must emit in the UV–visible range upon X-ray excitation, exhibit high biocompatibility, and have particle sizes below 100 nm. In this study, rare-earth co-doped fluoride phosphors were investigated. Nanoparticles were synthesized via a solvothermal method, and their phase and luminescent properties were evaluated.
