Sonic welding has attracted attention as a low-resistance joining technique for REBCO coated conductors. We have previously reported a correlation between the interfacial temperature predicted by finite-element thermal analysis and the degradation of superconducting properties. In this study, to validate the thermal analysis model, the temperature distribution during the sonic welding process of Cu-stabilized REBCO coated conductors was experimentally measured using K-type thermocouples and compared with simulation results. Through this comparison, the validity of the thermal analysis model for the sonic welding process was evaluated.
