To reduce AC losses in REBCO-coated-conductors, we proposed a "Substrate-Encoded Filamentation method" using metal stripes. In this study, we investigated the formation process of the non-superconducting region. Microstructural changes during crystallization heat treatment were observed using SEM. The microstructure directly above the stripe, which was approximately 4.7 μm before crystallization, expanded to approximately 6.0 μm after heat treatment, indicating that the non-superconducting region expanded in the width direction. Furthermore, the change in surface morphology suggested that the reaction products on the stripe changed during the heat treatment process.
