With the aim of reducing surface-electrode shielding loss in large-area PCSELs, we previously introduced non-radiative regions, in which the non-Hermitian coupling coefficient μ beneath the electrodes was set to zero, into 1-mm-diameter PCSELs with surface electrodes that partially block the emitted light, and experimentally demonstrated an enhancement in optical output due to reduced shielding loss. In this study, we introduced such non-radiative regions beneath the surface electrodes of 3-mm-diameter PCSELs with a double-junction active layer, and experimentally demonstrated optical output enhancement resulting from reduced shielding loss.
