Brain-Machine Interface
Recent advances in neuroscience and neurotechnology have highlighted the importance of bidirectional neural interfaces that enable both monitoring and modulation of brain activity for understanding brain function and improving the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. In this presentation, I will introduce fundamental technologies for realizing such bidirectional neural interfaces, including large-scale neural activity recording using high-density and minimally invasive multichannel electrodes, machine learning-based decoding of neural activity data, and neural activity modulation by electrical and magnetic stimulation. Finally, future perspectives on bidirectional neural interface devices integrating these fundamental technologies will be discussed.
