The issue of sample damage in ultraviolet (UV) sensing, which enables label-free imaging of molecules like nucleic acids, can be circumvented by high-sensitivity measurements using photonic quantum sensing. On the other hand, reports on Visible-UV entangled photon-pair sources utilizing spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) for photonic quantum sensing in UV region have been limited to date. Here, we report the development of a Visible-UV entangled photon-pair source via SPDC and the confirmation of pair generation containing UV photons.
