Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is a promising visible-light responsive photocatalyst; however, its performance is severely limited by rapid charge carrier recombination. Forming heterojunctions with zinc oxide (ZnO) is expected to suppress recombination and enhance photocatalytic activity. Nevertheless, most studies have focused on powder materials, which suffer from poor reusability. In this study, g-C3N4/ZnO composite thin films were fabricated a simple thermal CVD method, and their potential as high-performance photocatalysts toward practical applications was investigated.
