We investigated the factors underlying the thickness dependence of ion conductivity in the anion exchange membrane PFB-TMA-Br. Evaluation of membranes with a wide range of thicknesses (26 nm to 10 µm) revealed that the ion conductivity increased with increasing film thickness. While no difference in water uptake was observed due to changes in thickness, structural analysis confirmed that the polymer backbone transitioned to a face-on orientation as the film became thicker. These results suggest that morphological changes, such as molecular orientation, may contribute to the thickness dependence of the conductivity.
