In two-dimensional van der Waals ferromagnets, the electronic states and magnetic properties can be controlled by inserting magnetic ions between layers. It has been reported that post-growth annealing of Cr3Te4 thin films leads to an increase in the Curie temperature, changes in magnetic anisotropy, and the emergence of the topological Hall effect. In this study, we report the results of investigating the element-selective chemical state and valence band structure of Cr3Te4 thin films fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy and annealed at different temperatures, using hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
