Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent organic pollutants widely used in various applications, and the development of efficient treatment technologies is essential. In this study, gas–liquid interfacial plasma treatment was applied to investigate the decomposition mechanisms of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The saturation of fluoride ion production during lonf-term treatment indicated that PFOA decomposition efficiency was reduced over time. The effects of the experimental conditions on the characteristics of PFOA decomposition will also be discussed.
