Tau and neurofilament light chain (NfL), blood biomarkers of neuronal injury, exist at extremely low concentrations and require high-sensitivity measurements, making them unsuitable for screening. In this study, plasma samples from patients with neurological disorders associated with neuronal injury were analyzed using mid-infrared spectroscopy, with a focus on protein structural changes. The β-sheet/α-helix ratio and discriminant analysis revealed the potential to detect continuous structural variations associated with neuronal injury.
