In the field of criminal investigation, fingerprints left behind at a crime scene are important evidence of suspects’ involvement. In this presentation, we report a fluorescence lifetime imaging including spectral information as one of the non-contact methods for visualizing latent fingerprints using light. After irradiation of a pulsed-laser onto a paper sample with a latent fingerprint impressed, a time-resolved spectroscopic measurement of fluorescence emitted from the sample combined with a motorized stage scan gives time-resolved fluorescence spectrum at each position in the sample. By constructing a fluorescence lifetime image by using the time-resolved fluorescence spectrum at each position, a part of the latent fingerprint was visualized.
