This report compares science club activities with inquiry-based project research to examine the ideal ways of nurturing inquiry mindsets in high school students. Both share a common origin in students' pure interest and intuitive reasoning, aiming to elicit subjective ingenuity through trial and error. While addressing strategies to avoid "theme shopping"—a common barrier—this study analyzes how the difference in time constraints (2.5 years for clubs versus one year for project research) impacts students' inquiry processes. Finally, I discuss the significance of leveraging the unique characteristics of both to cultivate the "ability to enjoy unknown mysteries" through research experiences.
