In this study, we focused on solution plasma as a biomass conversion technology and investigated the decomposition behavior of disaccharides. Various disaccharides with different glycosidic linkages were treated by solution plasma, and the resulting products were analyzed. The selectivity toward constituent monosaccharides was low and was similar to that observed in the Fenton reaction, which generates OH radicals. These results suggest that OH-radical-mediated oxidative degradation plays an important role in the cleavage of glycosidic bonds during solution plasma treatment.
