In bilayer films consisting of a ferromagnetic metal and a heavy metal layer, measurement of the spin Seebeck effect (SSE) has been difficult due to the superposition of electromotive force from the anomalous Nernst effect (ANE). In this study, we propose a method to extract the SSE component in metallic bilayers based on a parallel circuit model and the results of applying temperature gradients in both in-plane and out-of-plane directions. Thickness-dependent measurements with Pt and Ta revealed electromotive-force behavior corresponding to the sign reversal of the spin Hall angle, demonstrating successful extraction of the SSE signal in magnetic metals.
