REBa2Cu3Oy (RE123) superconductors require precise biaxial alignment to achieve high critical current density. In this study, magnetic alignment based on anisotropic magnetic susceptibility was investigated, focusing on the effects of twin structures. Microcrystals of Y0.5Er0.5Ba2Cu3Oy (YEr123) and DyBa2Cu3Oy (Dy123) were prepared and analyzed by in situ X-ray diffraction under modulated rotating magnetic fields. The twin fraction was evaluated from the azimuthal intensity of {200}/{020} reflections, yielding a value of ~0.30 for YEr123 (y ≈ 6.96). The relationship between twin fraction and effective magnetic anisotropy is discussed, particularly for Dy123.
