In this study, we investigate the coupling and propagation characteristics of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and excitons in a hybrid structure consisting of an Ag nanowire on monolayer MoS2 using spatially resolved optical measurements. Fluorescence microscopy and optical scanning probe microscopy are employed to examine how local structural inhomogeneities, such as monolayer steps in MoS2,affect SPP–exciton interactions. The relationship between nanoscale structures and the coupling and propagation properties of SPP–exciton states is discussed based on the experimental results.
