We aim to develop a position-sensing superconducting transition edge sensor (TES) type microcalorimeter that achieves both high energy resolution and position resolution (the ability to determine where the incident energy is incident within the detector). In this study, we worked on developing a new detector shape that performs two-dimensional position detection, and investigated the significance of two-dimensional detectors through design studies and experimental verification.
