The layered oxide Sr2.5Bi0.5NiO5 exhibits a unique property: upon annealing at 600 °C in air, the Sr/Bi arrangement in the rock-salt layer transitions from an ordered to a disordered state, leading to an approximately 100-fold increase in electrical resistivity. In this study, we performed temperature-dependent in-situ XANES and in-situ XRD measurements on a polycrystalline bulk sample from room temperature to 600 °C in air, tracking the changes in its electronic state and crystal structure during both the heating and cooling processes.
