We investigated the effect of metal mesh thickness on the transmission spectra of a THz-band band-pass filter consisting of a deep-etched silicon structure and Babinet-complementary metal meshes using three-dimensional electromagnetic simulations. The results show that increasing the metal mesh thickness reduces the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the transmission peak. Using a Fabry–Pérot resonator model, we show that the increase in metal mesh reflectance with increasing thickness is responsible for the observed reduction in FWHM.
