Impurity in the electrolyte or gas deactivate the catalytic activity for electrochemical CO2 reduction. In this study, we demonstrated that Mn-complex can catalyze electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction in the tap-water electrolyte under 15% O2 + 85% CO2 gas flow with Faraday efficiency of 87%. Operando Raman spectroscopy led to conclude that coordination property and reaction mechanism of Mn-complex catalyst resulted in the impurity-tolerance.
