Amid active global research on hydrogen production via water splitting using photocatalysts and photoelectrodes, polymeric carbon nitrides (such as g-C3N4 and C3N5) which are metal free, visible light responsive polymeric semiconductors have recently attracted attention as resource efficient functional optoelectronic materials. In this presentation, we report the results of introducing a titanium dioxide (TiO2) buffer layer into a C3N5 based semiconductor photoanode and verifying its effects.
