The "built-in strain method," which involves depositing a thin film onto a stretchable flexible substrate while applying a tensile strain into the substrate, and then removing the strain after deposition to obtain a thin film with compressive strain, has recently attracted attention. In this study, we fabricated Nb thin films by sputtering technique with such built-in compressive strain embedded, and observed a decrease in transition temperature of 0.6K with a strain of 0.53%. This presentation will discuss the details and the presumed physical origin of this finding.
