An X-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) features ultra-high brilliance and femtosecond time-resolution. Our group performed time-resolved soft X-ray second harmonic generation(tr-SXSHG) measurements on LiNbO3, a material that exhibits spontaneous inversion symmetry breaking, and we successfully observed the transient reduction in the second-order non-linearity induced by optical laser excitation. In this presentation, we will discuss the underlying experimental principles and setup, alongside the observed non-linear dynamics.
