A Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) based on quantum Hall edge channels is expected to find applications in highly sensitive magnetic sensors and flying qubits. In this work, we propose an MZI utilizing the valley degree of freedom in silicon and report an evaluation of inter-channel transitions between co-propagating valley edge channels in its beam splitter (BS) region. We confirm that strong intervalley mixing occurs in the BS region and that the mixing ratio can be controlled by gate voltage. These results provide fundamental insights toward the realization of silicon-based valley MZIs.
