This study investigated the mechanism behind germination promotion in rice seeds by atmospheric-pressure plasma irradiation using ESR analysis. The results showed a significant increase in carbon-derived radicals (g=2.019) in plasma-irradiated hulled seeds and cellulose (a main component of hulls). Conversely, brown rice without hulls exhibited much lower radical induction. This suggests that plasma-generated radicals accumulate mainly in the seed hulls, originating from cellulose modification.
