We compared the firing dynamics of artificial neurons based on two molecular memristors with different electronic ground states: a Mott insulator and a charge-ordered system. Although both devices exhibit self-sustained oscillation and spike firing, their characteristic time scales differ by several orders of magnitude. Focusing on electronic-phase dynamics and emergent inductance, we discuss the possibility of engineering neuronal firing time scales through material design.
