When a voltage is applied to a nematic liquid crystal, its dielectric anisotropy causes the liquid crystal orientation to change at a threshold voltage or higher. Near this phase transition point, the relaxation time of fluctuations increases, which may affect performance in physical reservoirs. In this study, we used this nematic liquid crystal in a physical reservoir to investigate the relationship between changes in orientation and information processing performance.
