A semiconductor-sensitized thermal cell (STC) is a novel electrochemical device that generates electricity using thermally excited charges in a semiconductor. In this study, a STC was fabricated using naturally abundant chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), a narrow-bandgap semiconductor, as the semiconductor electrode, and its power generation performance was evaluated. The natural CuFeS2 mineral exhibited characteristic XRD peaks corresponding to the CuFeS2 phase and showed a bandgap of approximately 0.49 eV. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements revealed electrochemical responses indicative of STC power generation.
