It was anticipated that the substitution of sulphur atoms with tellurium atoms in BTBT—a compound that is atmospherically stable and exhibits high mobility—would improve its properties due to the heavy-atom effect. However, in the tellurium-substituted compound BTeBTe, a sandwich herringbone structure was formed, and consequently, no transistor characteristics were observed. In this study, the aim was to disrupt the sandwich herringbone structure by introducing tert-Bu groups at the 2- and 7-positions of BTeBTe. As a result, a herringbone structure was formed, and p-type characteristics were observed.
