RE123 melt-textured bulks exhibit high critical current density (Jc) under high magnetic fields, and their extensive application is expected as strong superconducting magnets. The Single-Direction Melt Growth (SDMG) method developed in our group enables the growth of bulks consisting of a single-growth region with high reproducibility. Furthermore, the addition of BMO such as BaSnO3 and BaZrO3 to RE123, which introduce flux-pinning centers, is anticipated to improve the critical current properties as well as to enhance the field-trapping characteristics. In this study, CaSnO3-added Y123 melt-textured bulks, which have not previously been reported for SDMG-processed bulks, were fabricated using the SDMG method. Their superconducting and microstructural properties were investigated. This presentation will explain the effectiveness of CaSnO3 precipitates as flux-pinning centers.
