PNPA single crystals are promising materials for efficient terahertz-wave generation. In this study, we determined the correspondence between the crystallographic axes and dielectric principal axes, and evaluated the refractive index and absorption coefficient by THz time-domain spectroscopy. We further analyzed the incident-polarization-angle dependence of the emitted THz waves and quantitatively evaluated each component of the χ(2) tensor by comparison with ZnTe. The χZZZ component was found to be dominant, and the conditions for efficient THz-wave generation will be discussed.
