Cesium Germanium Iodide (CsGeI3) is a ferroelectric perovskite material that exhibits giant spontaneous polarization along the <111> direction of its pseudocubic structure, giving rise to a large nonlinear optical response. However, it has been difficult to control the polarization axis so far. In this presentation, we report the successful growth of single-domain CsGeI3 (111) thin films with out-of-plane polarization by using molecular beam epitaxy and the observation of the strong second-harmonic generation associated with the aligned polarization.
